Closing Your Gap

"Moving from where you are to where you want to be"

Goals and Choices

"It's not enough to just have goals. They need to be well-defined & specific. They must be SMART goals!"

Each of us are constantly bombarded with decisions to make throughout our day, from the moment we rise until we close our eyes at night. Some decisions seem irrelevant and not very important, while others have a much more significant impact on our lives.

The truth is, even those seemingly unimportant decisions will often affect our time, relationships, and perhaps finances. But what does this have to do with goals?

Your goals will require time, the right relationships, and often some amount of finances. This means that even those seemingly unimportant decisions must be weighed from the perspective of our goals. You only have so much time in each day. If you squander away your time involved in activities unrelated to your goals, you will come up short on time for the things that are really important; and the same with finances. If you mismanage your finances, you may not have what you need for the goal-related activities. And down the road, you just may need that person you blew off a couple weeks ago.

But when your goals are well-defined and specific, as you are making decisions throughout your days, the details of your goals will guide your decision-making. When we know specifically where we are going, we are much more likely to make choices based on where it is we want to arrive.
